Keystone Nutrition is one of the few providers in the country offering a correctional registered and licensed dietitian/nutritionist (RDN/LDN) to conduct nutrition consults on-site or via telehealth (phone or Zoom), managing food and nutrition issues.

Medical team support
The RDN/LDN provides nutrition assessments for inmate requests, including:

  • Food allergies

  • Protein drinks

  • Double portions

  • Nutrition education

Food services support
The RDN/LDN also:

  • Reviews and approves menus annually, per the Basic Jail Guidelines

  • Develops and streamlines menus for therapeutic and religious diets

  • Delivers sanitation training

In addition, the RDN/LDN assesses all religious diet requests.

By handling these responsibilities, the dietitian frees up nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, food services staff, and religious leaders to focus on their core roles. To promote wellness among correctional staff, the RDN/LDN delivers presentations and nutrition education programs.
